A grape based spirit. Being based on grape rather than grain neutral spirit seems to add body and faint sweetness to this classically styled yet subtly herbal dry gin. The specially selected botanicals in GinT include Friulian Juniper berries from the Adriatic coast with Moscato grapes, Coriander seeds, Angelica root, mace, vanilla pods and sweet orange peels. It is crafted using pure water from the Italian Alps and distilled in small batched in alembic pot stills that were produced in 1955.

Lots of lemon tart and lemon peel, with a hint of what’s coming with the smoke. There is a sweet grassy weight to the bouquet that reminds me of chamomile tea with honey. The citrus fades away then apples and clementines becoming much more present. And what was gentle smoke becomes sturdier on the finish.
