Shetland-based distiller Blackwoods, known for its Scottish gins, has re-launched its vodka with a new look and a new recipe inspired by gin. Whereas gin is distilled with botanicals the vodka is distilled first and then the botanicals are left to rest in the vodka; for a short period of time. Only Shetland botanicals are used in the vodka, not strong flavoured botanicals such a Juniper, therefore we create only subtle flavours in the vodka. 5 times distilled premium grain vodka, delicately infused with botanicals in a process called bonification using our hand-picked Shetland botanicals. The botanicals include Sea Pink, Marsh Marigold, Meadow Sweet and Angelica and are all handpicked in the Shetland between May and July, this gives the product an exceptionally smooth and rounded taste.

Crystal clear. Charcoal, cream of soda vanilla, raw potatoes and cracked black pepper with faint hairspray like notes. Very slightly sweet with faint notes of raspberry ripple and vanilla ice cream. Very mild peppery notes. Fades with white pepper spice with raspberry ripple and vanilla ice cream. Subtly flavoured neutral grain.
