Blavod is triple distilled to achieve a pure, neutral vodka coloured with black catechu (cat-e-chu) to give its distinctive colour. It is not surprising that with all of the designer vodkas on the market that someone would devise a way to add colour to the famously clear liqueur without drastically disturbing any of the flavour characteristics of true vodka. Black catechu is a herb extract from the heartwood of acacia catechu, a tree native to Burma and Eastern India.

An exceptionally smooth clean tasting vodka, created using the oriental herb Catechu in a hand crafted process to produce a premium vodka that is both versatile and stylishly black in colour. Intriguing deep garnet/olive black color. A plush entry leads to velvety medium-bodied palate with nice wheat dough and mineral notes. Finishes very smoothly with well-balanced, chewy, elements of grain, confectioner’s sugar, and spice. Far more than a designer/novelty product, this is very good vodka.
