This is the story of prohibition and Norwegian ingenuity. During the period 1916–1926 the sale of liquor was prohibited. Liquor could still be obtained on prescription, however, and never before has a nation been so ill. Cognac was only available for “medicinal purposes”, and young Bache-Gabrielsen was quick to act.
