Product Description
Anton and Julia van Biljon are passionate about their family and their home and really feel a deep sense of belonging at Tarentaal. They felt that they needed to make a lasting impression and not just live at Tarentaal and what better way to do it than to create a fine wine in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands. They strive to create a top quality wine and have been blessed with the perfect terroir for the creation of an exquisite Bordeaux blend. All their grapes are grown and produced on Tarentaal which puts them in the privileged position of producing their own wine on their own land. They take a great sense of pride in this both as a great achievement and as a great privilege. The van Biljons started replanting the vineyards ten years ago and decided to plant all the Bordeaux varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Pettit Verdot – in order for them to strive to make a superior Bordeaux blend. Their blend is Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated and is a full blend with layers of fruit and berry flavours and well integrated tannins. The climate in Stellenbosch is ideally suited for growing a top Bordeaux blend and with their southern facing vineyards, granite soils and cooling sea breezes the grapes ripen later in the season and have ample time to develop a complex and rich character.
This wine has a powerful structure and expressive fruit composition. The classic oak character is seamlessly integrated with the fruit and the fresh berry acidity gives the wine vibrance and purity of fruit. The firm tannins are in perfect harmony with the wine leaving a lingering fruit sensation and satisfaction.
