The new cuvée is a non-vintage blend with reserve wine going back to the 2009 harvest, along with wines from other Pinot Noir crus in Champagne. A predominant grape across the Bollinger range, Pinot Noir is the pillar of the producer’s style. This launch edition of Bollinger PN will be followed by new versions that will incorporate different Pinot Noir expressions. Each edition will feature a different cru from the base year, so that each new version will be a “reinvention” of the original cuvée.

The nose is nothing short of awesome. It shows remarkable restraint and focus in spite of its exotic florals, warm brioche and faint canelé notes, all straining to be let loose (this will happen with age). There is an impeccably clean and sleek chassis here, very long, tubular and with great density of flavour. It travels across the tongue like a powder-coated titanium lozenge rather than a broader, antique, galleon of years gone by. The finish brings the senses back to familiar R.D. territory with a whoosh of bitter orange and honey.

The bouquet shows aromas of raspberries, minerals, wildflowers and light spice. Silky yet weighty; texture reminiscent of a Chambolle-Musigny. The palate shows notes of red berries, light vanilla, minerals. Very long on the finish.
