This isn't a simple light rum. Blackwell Rum, known by Jamaicans as 'Black Gold', is colourful, rich and complex, like the spirit of the island.
Dark, amber hue, along with an aroma of milk chocolate, roasted coffee and dried apricots. Full-bodied rum with notes of lush cherries, raisins, cinnamon, strawberries, caramelized apples and candied oranges, Long, toffee finish.
Light vanilla and caramel on the nose with a soft sweetness. Soft palate of vanilla and toffee with a slight sharpness of spice and oak coming through.
Aged in a combination of ex-bourbon American white oak and European PX-seasoned casks, this is a spicy and rich rum. Precise and delicate bouquet of spicy orange peel, white flower and caramel. Quite bright on the palate, slightly smoky and displaying vanilla and baked peach flavors. A lengthy, well-balanced finish with a slight saline quality ensues.

Rhum Clément X.O. is a rare blend of very old aged rums including the highly regarded vintages of 1976, 1970 and 1952, which have been recognized to be the finest ever in Martinique. Each vintage brings to the bottle spice, toffee, and tobacco flavors and our Cellar Master has miraculously married them together to create one of the finest sipping rums in the world.
A warm, fruity scent and a light smokiness. Although boozy up front, that fades out to a pleasing tropical fruit and sweet vanilla finish.
Cockspur XO is a work of art. This vintage rum is aged to perfection in American bourbon-oak barrels and, only then, the best casks are hand-selected by our master-blender. These are then blended together and left to marry in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks.
The significantly higher age is immediately noticeable in intensity and complexity. Oak tones are overly clear and bring with them a whole load of spices: cinnamon and nutmeg, subtle clove, vanilla, saffron and a very fine smoke also come through. There are more fruit notes, which can be found here, but also rich honey, caramel and coffee and walnuts on a long warm finish.
A double distillation of fresh sugar cane juice—crushed within two hours of being cut—the white rum is made with a blend of pot and column distillation with a long resting of the finished product on stainless steel. The smooth end product displays vanilla, coffee bean, and grass on the bouquet with fresh berries, citrus zest and cactus notes to finish.
Diplomatico Ambassador Selection has been created by Rum Master Tito Cordero, only the 3rd Rum Master in the history of DUSA. Crafted from 100% heavy pot still rums and aged for a minimum of 12 years, the rum is aged in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for an additional two years in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
Mantuano is the replacement for Diplomatico's Reserva rum. 'Mantuano', meaning 'nobleman', reflects Don Juancho's status and his passion for travel and the discovery of new spirits, mainly rums. Don Juancho is present on each of Diplomatico's rums.
The Batch Kettle Still was brought to Diplomático’s La Miel distillery in 1959. This semi-artisanal distillation system is originally from Canada, where it was employed for the production of American whisky. Using the best sugar cane honeys, this unique distillate is aged for 6 years in American white oak barrels, that previously served to age bourbon and scotch, resulting in a delicious medium-body and complex rum.
The Barbet Column Still was brought to Diplomático’s La Miel distillery in 1959. This continuous distillation system is originally from France. Using high quality sugar cane molasses, the distillate is aged in American white oak barrels until it reaches its optimum maturity, resulting in a unique rum.
An exquisite sipping rum that is made almost entirely from sugar cane honey. This fine rum is blended from 80% pot still rum and 20% light rums aged for up to 12 years. The end result is a truly exceptional.
Primarily distilled in copper pot stills, combined with batch kettle and column distillation, Selección de Familia is made from molasses and sugar cane honey which are then aged for up to 12 years in American white oak, ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.

I am very pleasantly surprised that this is a tasty and complex Rum that just happens to be bottled at flame thrower strength.

Don Q Reserva 7 is bright and radiant aged Puerto Rican rum crafted from an exceptional blend of rums aged a minimum of 7 years in American white oak barrels. Rich in flavor and character, the special care and flawless craft that go into the creation of this rum. The aroma is of moderate intensity with molasses, vanilla, oak and a light char smoke. There’s a hint of tropical fruit and chocolate here as well. The rum is medium bodied and the barrel spices give the rum a little dimension. It’s just lightly sweet on the palate and has a bittersweet and gentle spiced finish.
