To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Black Tot Day, we have created a commemorative limited edition Black Tot blend. 50th Anniversary is described as “a new rum with an old soul”. While it definitely tastes “Navy” there are bright and fruity elements to it along with that spiciness that makes it really interesting and layered, you’ll find a marriage of rums from the four cornerstones of the Royal Navy blend: Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, and Trinidad.

Mineral with tropical fruit and pineapple. Strong notes of coconut, probably from the American oak casks this was aged in, with faint toffee/fudge note and white peppery spice. Lingering white pepper and coconut on the finish.

Exceedingly rich and aromatic molasses, which in turn begets unforgettable rum. Smooth, elegant and medium-bodied, these golden-style rums are crafted from both pot and column still distillation, combined with ageing in lightly charred ex-Bourbon barrels.

Finished in “deeply toasted and charred” Bourbon casks, slightly sweet offering bold notes of cola, allspice and vanilla, finishing brisk and spicy.

Sweet buttery caramel, banana, and apple aromas. A round entry leads to lush, dry medium body with buttery caramel and mashed banana flavors. Long nut and peppery spice fade.

Very Smooth. A beautiful, golden amber color deeper than you’d expect from aging less than four years in oak. Ah, the complexity! You can smell the copper pot still in your first sniff. Mount Gilboa is an honest-to-goodness traditional rum, pot distilled and retaining plenty of old-world character. It’s heady and oily on the nose, with aromas of toasted cane and burnt sugar (but not sweet), musty oak and vanilla, damp smoky leather, and tropical fruit (overripe bananas, papaya, fig), trace white pepper and walnuts, green curry spices – Mount Gilboa has it all.

A blend of rums distilled in column and traditional pot stills, aged 9 years in bourbon and sherry casks then 3 years in cognac casks, this rum is a perfect example of the finest Barbados rums: voluptuous, soft and fruity. Dark amber in colour, Plantation Barbados 2001 offers a nose with exotic fruits, plantain banana and ripe pineapple. This rum is harmonious and smooth on the palate, revealing a tropical and tasty range of aromas.

A very fine blend of Barbados rums, aged for five years in bourbon casks in the Caribbean then refined in old French oak casks at Château de Bonbonnet. Its succulent nose, typical of the Barbados style, reveals notes of toasted coconut, fudge and oaky vanilla.

Demerara sugar and molasses on the bouquet with opulent notes of dried fruits, island spices, and caramel. The palate is full and round with tropical flavors. Warm and smooth with a long finish.

Rubber sap, marinated vinegar, caramel taffy, ad brown spice aromas. A round entry leads to a glycerous off-dry medium-to full bodied palate with sherried brown spices, mineral spirits, roasted Brazil nuts, cedar, and toffee. Finishes with a touch of shellac, exotic peppercorn, and very spicy heat. A very hearty, traditional navy rum!

The bouquet and palate shows a spicy/peppery hit from the strong bitter molasses, but once it breathes a little it seems to get smoother, and then flavours separate a little and the complexity reaches its pinnacle with the notes of caramel, vanilla, and honey coming forth on the finish.

Clear, pale coppery golden with burnished copper highlights with heavy tears. Pungent burnt raisin, prune, treacle and cinnamon sprinkled with demerara sugar and oak chips. Faint old oil paint notes. Full-bodied, cooked Californian raisins with cinnamon, clove and oaky spice. Sweet, lightly spiced, raisiny finish.

The bouquet shows light caramel, brown sugar, creamy vanilla, coconut milk, a touch of green lawn, not mowed. The palate is mostly smooth with oak and vanilla, but quite rugged around the edges. The finish is dry with coconut flesh. Overall, this is a gorgeous bourbon barrel matured rum.
