In the late 90’s Howard Paterson and Steve Cozens had a vision to see the Waitaki Valley of North Otago become one of New Zealand’s premium sites for outstanding wine growing. After much trial and tribulation, thanks to limestone rich soils, an extended growing season and limited frost risk, a stellar team including Steve, multi-award winning winemaker Michelle Richardson and arguably New Zealand’s highest profile Chef, Peter Gordon, have created a unique range of exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir from which they are derived.
Cherry and wild herb flavours with a fine core of minerality and a welcome hint of floral/violet character. Very pure and slightly edgy wine in a distinctive regional style. Plenty of energy and drive with a lengthy finish.
