Product Description
Established in the village of Ambonnay , (which is classified as Grand Cru), in the renowned Montagne de Reims, the Soutiran champagne house specializes in Grand Cru and Premier Cru. This ranking dates back to 1927, and lists each village according to its soil, climate and sun exposure. Ambonnay benefits from an excellent climatic exposure, in the South East of the Montagne de Reims, and a chalky soil ensuring an excellent drainage and supply of water for the vines. The village of Ambonnay exclusively produces Pinots Noirs (70%) and Chardonnays (30%). This family-owned champagne house cultivates 6 Ha of vine, and completes its production in sourcing grapes from the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus (family contracts and relations with nearby vineyards). Vineyards are approximatively 25 years old. Champagne Soutiran was established in 1936 when, after a career in the military, Gérard Soutiran returned to his native region to take over the vines of his former tutor and embellished with those acquired through marriage to his wife, Solange. In 1969, he was joined by Alain, the eldest of his four children, and together they traded under the name of Soutiran-Pelletier. Today, it is Alain’s eldest daughter, Valérie and her husband, Patrick Renaux, who manage the families six hectares of vines, centred on the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. In addition to their own vineyards, they also manage a further four, including the Premier Cru holdings of the Renaux family, located in Trépail, Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes and Chamery.
A deep yellow-gold in color. The bouquet combines aromas of stewed pears and vine peaches, with a touch of torrefaction and aniseed. The effervescence is creamy and smooth to the palate. It stands out for its excellent structure of aromas, where the minerality of the exclusive terroir, roasted pears and orange melons, as well as notes of aniseed seeds are intermingled here, with a chalky minerality that brings up saline undertones on the finish.
