Product Description
Sileni Estates was born from a long standing interest in wine by Graeme Avery. In late 1997, along with financial director Chris Cowper and winemaker Grant Edmonds, he established Sileni as an export oriented producer, committed to crafting world-class fine wines. Sileni Estates is a major vineyard and winery development in Hawke’s Bay, which is New Zealand’s oldest established vineyard area. Since the first vintage in 1998 the wines have won world wide acclaim. The name Sileni is derived from Roman mythology where the Sileni, or demigods of Bacchus the God of Wine, celebrated the end of good harvest with indulgence in good food, good wine and good company. The vineyards and winery are based near Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It has a southern latitude of 39° and a climate similar to that of some of the great wine regions of the world. Sileni boasts a state of the art winery. Our Winemaking Team have honed their winemaking skills in wineries around the world and we strive to maintain high standards in environmentally sustainable viticultural and winemaking practices. Sileni Estates produce hand crafted wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the vineyards.
