Product Description
The Seifried story began in 1973 when Austrian born Hermann Seifried and his New Zealand wife Agnes had a dream of making wines in New Zealand’s sunshine capital – Nelson. From very small and modest beginnings when Hermann and Agnes grafted the vines late into the night, to today when all three Seifried ‘children’ have returned home to play their part in growing the family business, Seifried Estate is a company devoted to sustainable winegrowing and producing the very best Nelson has to offer. Nelson is located at the top of New Zealand’s South Island and is surrounded by mountains to the east, west and south, while the Tasman Sea is to the north. Selection of premium new local vineyard sites continues to provide us with exciting opportunities and possibilities. From nursery through to vineyard, each site has been chosen and developed with varieties and clones most suited to the particular location. With the majority of fruit being Estate grown, we feel this ensures complete control over all areas of the grape production. Today, we harvest from six Estate producing vineyards (identified by three main soil types) across the Nelson region. Seifried Estate is a member of ‘Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand’ and was an early adopter of the programme when both the winery and vineyard audited programmes were first established in the New Zealand wine industry.
The Sweet Agnes is another beauty! The wine is succulent and so appealing with intense perfume of fresh spring freesias and blossoms, mandarin peel and honey dew. The palate has a full and luscious entry packed with ripe stonefruit and citrus. The pure natural acidity streak gives a neat sleekness to the wine and complements the palate intensity leaving a clean well finished wine. Just gorgeous!
