The Segura Viudas building, which dates back to the 11th century, was initially a watchtower. The various architectural styles visible today—Visigothic, Romanesque and Gothic—are the result of several work extensions. In the 13th century the tower lost its military importance and was converted into a masia, the name given to country houses in Catalonia. At the end of the 19th century, when the region became aware of the potential of the various indigenous varieties and the first steps were taken in the application of the traditional method, the estate produced its first sparkling wines. Segura Viudas became a brand in 1950 but it was not until 1969 that it began to market its wines, the quality of which stood out right from the beginning. The passage of time has been favourable to our company and the prestige of our brand has increased even more in recent years. It is difficult to find a wine-producing firm that has acquired so much international recognition in such a short time.
Bright, light strawberry pink, with hints of salmon and a pale rim. A fine, abundant and consistent mousse, rising to a good crown. Youthful fruit aromas of strawberry, redcurrant and grenadine. Refreshing on the palate, full of cherry fruit and a light acidity. A soft finish on the back of the palate gives a lovely approachable balance to this very drinkable Cava.
