Product Description
REX HILL has been making elegant Pinot Noirs for over 30 years in the Willamette Valley at the gateway to Oregon’s wine country. REX HILL honors exceptional single vineyards and continues a legacy of singular Pinot Noirs that reflect their origin. That sense of place is paramount to the way we farm our land and make our wines. REX HILL Winery, founded in 1982 by Paul Hart and Jan Jacobsen, was built around an old fruit and nut drying facility and opened in 1985. The original vineyard around the winery is now all Pinot Noir except for one row of Muscat left for the sweet delight of harvest visitors. The focus on high quality Pinot Noir at the gateway to the Northern Willamette Valley makes REX HILL a must stop on visits to or through wine country. In 2007, A to Z Wineworks (the William Hatcher Family, the Francis Tannahills, and a few partners including Gregg Popovich) purchased REX HILL Vineyards and Winery bringing fresh enthusiasm and energy to the properties strengthening both brands. A commitment to excellence is evident in their Biodynamic farming and sustainable business practices.
Beautiful, dark and brilliant burgundy red from the center to the rim. When first poured, intense aromatics of wet stones, black cherries, ripe raspberries, cassis, tobacco and forest floor notes jump from the glass. After some time, the wine opens and deepens revealing notes of iris, cinnamon, spice and huckleberries. In the mouth, the attack opens with red fruit flavors and minerals which transform into darker fruit flavors as the wine moves along the palate. Firm ripe tannins and a rich texture characterize the long finish with lingering flavors of red fruits and wet stones.
