Pierre Ferrand, world renowned for its fine 100% Grande Champagne cognacs, is introducing a special cognac to complement a superior smoke : Pierre Ferrand Cigar Blend, Reserve Havana. “We wanted a cognac that is in balance with a structured cigar. This cognac works well because of the inherent structure of Grande Champagne cognacs”, explains Ferrand’s Jean-Dominique Andreu, an avid cigar smoker himself. For six years, they have been the sole cognac suppliers to the prestigious Club des Parlermentaires Amateurs de Havane, which counts among its members France’s top politicians.
Pale gold in color. The palate is very mild and quite sweet, with lots of apple and vanilla flavor on the nose and body. The finish offers wood character, some cinnamon and caramel notes. This tastes both young and refined at the same time, without a hint of that raw alcohol flavor that is so pungent in many younger Cognacs. It doesn’t offer a ton of complexity, but overall it’s a bargain for a spirit of this quality.
