Product Description
Matetic vineyards is located in Rosario Valley, a subdivisión of San Antonio Valley, 120 kilometers from Santiago between Casablanca and San Antonio. The story of the Matetic Winery begins in 1999 when the Matetic family decided to diversify their business ventures and enter the world of wine, confident in the virtues of the climate and soils in the Rosario Valley. With a firm conviction in the vital importance of maintaining a strong professional team to guide every step of the project. This completely enclosed valley is perpendicular to the ocean and features ideal climatic and topographic conditions for both red and white wines. The vineyards are certified organic by CERES GmbH and follow Biodynamic practices as well. All wines are hand-picked and estate bottled. The vineyard, as well as fulfilling the Organic Norms, adopted the philosophy of Biodynamics on its management from the beginning. This way, the whole property is seen as a living entity with its own individuality, where the growth of the plants in a healthy environment allows for a greater harmony that has been reached between the winery´s organic agricutural practices and the natural landscape of the valley, whilst faithfully expressing the features of the terroir where they are produced.
The Corralillo Carmenère, from the much-lauded and horseshoe-shaped Apalta valley in Colchagua, is no exception. Thick with spiced dark chocolate, bramble and black cherry. This has typical Carmenere character, with deep, soft black fruit, dark chocolate and sweet/smoky spice and some subtle vanilla from 18 months’ ageing in French oak. Powerful but refined on the finish.
