Product Description
In the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country, Landmark Vineyards practices the centuries old tradition of handcrafted wines. Garnering praise from some of the toughest critics, Landmark produces rich, balanced wines. Landmark Vineyards was founded in 1974 in Windsor, CA and in 1989 relocated from Windsor, a town that was slowly being smothered by urban sprawl, to a spectacular piece of land at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Sonoma Valley. Landmark became a small jewel of a winery and was built in the Spanish mission style. The winery is equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment capable of producing 25,000 cases of wine per year. With the help of renowned Landscape architect, Morgan Wheelock, Landmark Vineyards developed into a lush, gorgeously landscaped wine estate. In 1993 world-renowned consulting enologist Helen Turley was hired to work with then winemaker Eric Stern. The collaboration led to excellent winemaking and under Eric’s direction, Landmark’s wines consistently garnered rave reviews from wine writers. Our signature wine, the Overlook Chardonnay, has appeared on The Wine Spectator Top 100 list 7 times since 1997. Landmark’s current winemaker, Greg Stach, has continued this tradition of crafting spectacular Chardonnays. Landmark’s mission is “to make great wines that enhance the joy of life” and winemaker Greg Stach feels that quality and flavor begin in the vineyards.
The wine exhibits a deep garnet color and aromas of gingerbread spice and blood orange are underpinned by forest floor and earthy cherry. On the palate hints of mushroom and plum unfold. Supple ripe tannins and balancing acidity give the wine a long lasting finish.
