Product Description
French Doctor Pierre Ordinaire distils a strong (68% abv/136 proof) spirit containing wormwood, anise, hyssop and varying amounts of other common herbs as a cure-all tonic. It becomes so popular others start to distil it and is quickly nicknamed ‘La Fée Verte’ (the green fairy). 1915, Absinthe banned in France, at the height of its popularity. After years of issuing their troops with absinthe as a preventative against malaria, the French Government decided to ban absinthe, blaming it for widespread desertion in the trenches during World War I. The X•S range is classified as an ‘amer’, which means that under EU law is allowed over three times the amount of thujone in normal absinthe.
La Fée X•S Française is a premium example of a wine based French absinthe from Pontarlier. Following his great grand-fathers recipes and distillation methods our distiller creates a highly complex and authentic absinthe. This extra supérieure French absinthe has a pale bright lime tinged appearance, a forward and intense aroma of wood and new pine with a citrus background. It is best enjoyed by adding 4 to 6 parts iced water dripped over sugar creating a pale lime green louch, after which its flavours evolve into a textured superb structure with a powerful complex flavour. This La Fée X•S Française is a classic extra supérieure French absinthe.
