Enter The Kraken. This spiced rum is dark and rich. The bottle features a large octopus-like cephalopod rising from the deep as if to attack an unsuspecting schooner or galleon. The bottle is designed with dual grab handles, like something Captain Jack Sparrow would sling over his shoulder in a drunken haze. Yet the flavor is richer and more complex. It’s assumed there is a fair amount of caramel coloring rather than barrel aging, but that’s okay: the caramel sugars add a balance to the minty/peppery spices. The rum is from The Caribbean (probably Trinidad & Tobago), then infused with spices and natural flavors at the Indiana distillery.
