Product Description
Irish whiskey has a tradition that dates back right to the 1400s, and the way that whiskey has been made, we’ve been very careful to keep those traditions alive. Cooley has, and the Kilbeggan Distilling Company, has been renowned for their innovation – we’ve revived some of the traditions that hadn’t been there before and for example in Kilbeggan here we’re using a still which is over 180 years old to produce quite a unique product and that’s part of the heart of Kilbeggan® whiskey that we produce today. Kilbeggan is Gaelic for “little church”. Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey first appeared as a John Locke’s brand over 100 years ago and was sold successfully until Locke’s distillery ceased production in the 1950’s. Locke’s distillery is the oldest continuously licensed whiskey distillery in the world dating back to 1757. Drawing on centuries of tradition and craft, Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey is distilled from the purest clear water and the finest malted Irish barley and maize, gently matured for long years in oak casks in the ancient warehouses in Kilbeggan and skilfully blended to create a whiskey of unique smoothness, character and balance.
Pale gold with a pale straw hue. Dried grass aroma. Some grape-like fruit scents, then vanilla and wafer biscuit. The palate offers vanilla, cream, wafer biscuit and spice. Clean, medium bodied, with a gentle tingle, the palate fades fast then re-emerges with a subtle, lingering aftertaste of spice, mint and honeycomb.
