Product Description
This whiskey is produced at the scenic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort (close to Woodford Reserve Distillery if you are touring). Buffalo Trace is the home of numerous other whiskies such as Eagle Rare, Blanton’s and Rock Hill Farms. This is a single barrel bourbon, which unlike most, carries no age statement. Rather, it’s bottled when Elmer T. Lee, Master Distiller Emeritus at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, determines that the barrel is at its peak. Lee is a native Kentuckian who’s also had a hand at producing some of the finest Bourbons ever bottled. When asked, “How do you get to be a master distiller?’ Lee comments, ‘Experience is the only way I know to get there. You can’t study it in school; you can’t learn it over the Internet… it’s on-the-job training.’
Amber chestnut in colour. The nose is huge, spicy aroma. Very mature, with notes of oak, leather, and molasses. Enormous in every respect, from its thick, chewy texture to its unbelievably spicy and very powerful flavours. The long, warm finish is preceded by notes of mint, eucalyptus, cinnamon, vanilla, molasses, oak, leather, and lingering pepper. This is an amazing, truly unique whiskey. There is no rye whiskey on the market that is as old or perfectly balanced as this one. For all who can’t get enough flavors and intensity in your whiskey, your search has ended.
