The Evans and Tate name began with the partnership of John Evans and John Tate in 1971 with the purchase of a small winery called Gnangara Wines located in the historic Swan Valley, just north of Perth. Over the ensuing years Evans & Tate grew into one of Western Australia’s most respected and successful wine companies. The winery was modernised and expanded and new vineyard sites, most notably the Redbrook vineyard in Margaret River, were developed. Across all its ranges has set a high standard of excellence, combining originality with a clear regional style. The Evans & Tate winemakers adhere to a philosophy of quality and distinction in every range, from the trusted and familiar styles that have been the anchor of Evans & Tate for decades, to fresh and progressive wines that lead the industry and challenge wine lovers.
Very pale green in colour. The bouquet has extraordinary fruit intensity with lifted stone fruit, citrus and smoky barrel ferment characters. The palate is focused with a sensual texture and richness. Nectarine, white peach and citrus flavours combine with mineral complexity, seamlessly integrated oak, to form a lingering finish. There’s greater sophistication and the palate is fine and quite delicate yet there is enormous power and complexity with toasty oak and tight minerally fruit stacked with grapefruit and mealy flavours.
