Product Description
East London Liquor Company is a distillery producing and importing a range of quality handcrafted spirits including gin, vodka, rum and whisky. Bringing spirits production back to London’s East End after more than a century, we are reinstating an industry back to its roots. Located in one of Bow’s most well known historical sites, the old glue factory in Bow Wharf. The East London Liquor Company will be the first distillery in London to produce gin, whisky and vodka in East London for over a century. The spirits will be made in two copper stills 450-650 litres at a time. Two of the first spirits to be made will be “super premium” gins that will celebrate the pivotal role London has played in the juniper-based spirits’ history. In addition, the ELLC will make a London Dry Gin, an “artisanal” vodka and a whisky aged on site for a minimum of three years. The distiller will also import its own rum from Demerara Distillers in Guyana. Prior to the ELLC, Baxter founded the City of London Distillery in late 2012 and also helped set up Chase Distillery in Herefordshire.
The finest Demerara rum made using molasses produced from 100% Demerara sugar, grown on the banks of the Demerara river in Guyana. This contributes a fruity, rich sweetness to the rum. The spirit is micro-distilled in a two-column wooden Coffey still, the world’s only surviving wooden column still. This unique process gives it a complex and woody flavour. It is then aged in ex-bourbon casks for at least 3 years, which adds spicy vanilla notes.
