The words that best describe Maison M. Chapoutier. An Estate that nurtures its vineyards with the greatest respect for natural balance and terroir since 1808. The family motto “Fac et Spera” – do and hope – says it all. Two words that sum up all the patience and daring that this art demands: patience in relation to nature which presides; daring for the winemaker, who observes, chooses and assists. The wine will be the faithful expression of this alchemy. For the last two hundred years in the Rhone Valley, and today also in the Roussillon and in Australia, Chapoutier has been producing some of the greatest wines: Hermitage, Côte Rôtie, Chateauneuf du Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes Hermitage, Luberon. Our own vineyards and the single vineyards we select are cultivated either organically or biodynamically to respect the terroir. Michel Chapoutier maintains a philosophy of biodynamic viticulture. Michel is an inspiring and visionary leader who does not hesitate to develop breakaway solutions in line with his convictions. He is passionate about revealing the expression of the site and soil. He combines the history and tradition of the past with innovation, daring and creativity. Core values at the heart of M Chapoutier include respect of nature, daring to open new horizons and generosity of spirit. The story behind Michel Chapoutier’s latest innovation, Marius, is one of deep family connection. He remembers his great grandfather as a man with an insatiable thirst for life – and he is also the dapper gentleman who graces the label on Marius wines. “Marius was all about the enthusiastic embrace of life and opportunity,” Michel Chapoutier said. “This is his wonderful legacy, and it’s one I want to honor with the wines that bear his name. These are honest, demystified wines – wines that bring people together.” But more than a bon vivant, Marius Chapoutier played a key role in the development of the family wine enterprise, acquiring vineyards in the Hermitage area and directing construction of a new winery in 1929. Because Michel shares the same visionary spirit and passion for life, wine and food, as his great grandfather, he has crafted this wine in his name to honor him.
Bright crimson red with violet highlights. The palate is powerful, complex and spicy black fruit aromas, with a delicate vegetal touch. The bouquet is bold and concentrated on entry, and well-structured with tannins. Vanilla notes on the finish.
