Product Description
Don Melchor Concha Y Toro a distinguished Chilean lawyer, entrepreneur and politician-, decided to exploit the winemaking potential of the Maipo Valley just as the industry in Chile became fashionable. Casillero del Diablo offers wine lovers the very special opportunity to participate in the propagation of a century old legend known throughout the world. In the 19th century, the founder of Concha y Toro, Don Melchor, discovered that his vineyard workers were sampling his greatest wines. To discourage this action, Don Melchor spread the rumor that his deepest, darkest cellar was the Casillero del Diablo (Cellar of the Devil), so that no one would dare go in there. It worked, and a legend was born. Today, this mysterious and legendary cellar continues to hold the finest, estate grown wines of Casillero del Diablo.
Bright, pale yellow with continuous tiny, delicate bubbles. The first impression delivers the Limarí Valley’s austere citric notes. Green apple aromas stand out over a mineral base, complemented by hints of clay biscuit, to create a fresh, highly aromatic wine. Its rich acidity and fine bubbles can be felt from the start, making it a refreshing and pleasant medium-bodied wine with notable citrus fruits, such as lime. It has a long finish which remains dry and cool to the very end.
