Bodegas Mocén is located in the town of Rueda – Valladolid. It was acquired and renovated by José Luis Ruiz Solaguren in 1988. It has 300 hectares of vineyards situated 5 km from the Douro River. In addition to the common areas of processing, preservation and bottling of wine in the cellar can see a library, extensive museum of glass pieces and corkscrew of all ages, authentic relics of a past wine. All at 25 meters deep and more than 4 kilometers of underground tunnels, which were used in ancient times to store wine. Mocén Bodegas, has centennial galleries. XV and XVI have joined in perfect harmony with the most advanced winemaking technology: grape selection belts, automatic hydraulic presses, self-emptying tanks with controlled cooling and pressure, maximum cleanliness throughout the process. All this provides a comprehensive control in the development and guarantee high levels of quality in the final product. It has an excellent aging cellar, with a total of 3,000 barrels of American oak and French oak, which are true relics of the past, like its old Spanish chestnut casks. Red fruits and cherry aromas are bright, jumpy and youthful. The mouthfeel on this red Rueda, something you don’t normally see much of, is narrow, pinched and velvety. Edgy flavors of plum, herbal berry and roast oak set up a finish.
