Rejadorada started as a winery in 1999. However, its name goes even further back to the times when the future of Castilla was in the hands of two powerful women: Isabel the Catholic and Juana la Beltraneja who disputed the succession war in 1472. The Governor, Juan de Ulloa, protector of Juana la Beltraneja, ordered the hanging of all conspirators on the public square, except for Antonia García, wife of the Marquis of Monroy who was executed by means of a tourniquet tied on the window grille of her own palace. Later, after her triumphant entry in the city of Toro, the Queen Isabel the Catholic ordered the grille (reja) to be gilded (dorada) as atonement for these deaths, turning the ‘Reja-dorada’ into a Spanish icon of freedom and glory. Bodega Rejadorada (D.O. Toro) is one of the top 5 wineries in D.O. Toro, producing high quality premium wines with national and international recognition. Since their first harvest in 1999, & growing only Tempranillo, Bodega Rejadorada has released 5 wines from 5 different areas, & using 5 different aging techniques. Whilst the harsh continental climate, the sandstone, clay and limestone soil offer the vines along the River Duero the ideal conditions for the production of high quality wines. Bodegas Rejadoada have set themselves a very high standard, and an objective to produce limited, exclusive, & high quality red wines that adheres to and respects the region’s characteristics and personality.
Cherry red in colour with ruby hue. The bouquet is very very complex and deep spicy, balsamic aromas integrated with varietal fruit hints of blackberry fruit. The palate is lively and vibrant, with a wide and sweet tannic profile,
very well balanced, and with a remarkably long and persistence finish.
