Product Description
Since their inaugural vintage in 1991 the goal at Beaux Frères has been to produce a top notch Pinot from small, well-balanced yields and ripe, healthy fruit that represents the essence of their vineyard. Michael Etzel discovered the property in 1986, then an 88 acre pig farm for sale on Ribbon Ridge in the Chehalem Valley, Yamhill County. After some deliberation he bought it with his brother in-law, Robert Parker (hence the name) and moved from Colorado with his family. While planting the vineyard Michael worked four vintages at Ponzi Winery and in 1990 harvested his first crop which he sold keeping back one barrel. 1991 saw the renovation of the barns and the creation of Beaux Frères Winery. Beaux Frères have two vineyards: Beaux Frères itself and The Upper Terrace. Beaux Frères strives to produce high quality wines from Pinot noir grapes following classical Burgundian winegrowing practices. Beaux Frères cellar technique is characterized by minimal ‘handling’ of the material. All of this is aimed at preserving the character of the terroir, the personality of the vintage, and the quality of the wine.
Bright raspberry and mulberry scents are complemented by exotic cinnamon, mace and candied rose. Juicy, focused and appealingly sweet, with potent, floral-accented red berry flavors and a suave, silky texture. The tangy, tightly focused finish shows impressive clarity and length.
