Product Description
Moncaro was the first vineyard in Italy to make organic wine some 25 years ago. Moncaro is the leading vineyard in the Marche region of Italy, it also counts the highest number of producer members. Moncaro strives to produce a range of wines made with local grapes respecting local winemaking traditions. Moncaro’s wines have won a large number of national and international awards. Moncaro’s distinguishing features include its respect for the environment and as mentioned above the production of organic wine. All this makes Moncaro a precursor in the winemaking agriculture sector in Italy. Founded in 1964, Moncaro is a vast co-operative and the most important wine-producing operation in the beautiful Marche region. The company has three separate wineries, producing over 7 million bottles a year, situated in the principal viticultural areas of the Marche: Montecarotto, Camerano and Acquaviva. This allows master winemaker, Giuliano d’Ignazi and world famous consultant oenologist, Riccardo Cottarella, to create a strong point of difference, placing the focus firmly on the wines and grapes of the Marche region. Moncaro has made its name over the years by combining two factors that typify the potential of this exciting region and the quality of its wines and a desire to push the boundaries both commercially and viticulturally. Uniquely, the co-operative members of Moncaro have given the President, Doriano Marchetti, full administrative power, meaning the company is run almost as a private concern allowing full strategic and competitive freedom. During the late Eighties and early Nineties, the co-operative embarked upon a period of serious investment, initiating new integrated farming methods in the vineyards and employing the most biologically sound techniques throughout the winery along with providing up-to-date winemaking equipment and technology. Of the 1,700ha that make up the Moncaro co-operative, all are controlled using integrated farming methods. A further 60ha are certified organic and 350ha have EU certification for ‘low environmental impact’. But the Moncaro philosophy is not just to be the biggest in the region but also the best.
A very bold and brilliant red color. The intense aroma has fruity scents of raspberry, cherry, currant and a slight nuance of peaches in syrup that makes it warm and very pleasing. The flavor flows very nicely with its acidity controlled and tannins settled. This is a wine that successfully plays on its freshness and easy drinkability.
