Archangel is a true story of hope, love and survival. Destiny at work. It begins in 1940 with two young girls, Stefania and Halina. Forced from their homes in war-torn Poland, the girls find themselves in a labour camp in Arkhangel, Siberia. Though they had not yet met, they begin a courageous journey to freedom. A parallel journey that takes them across many continents, where they encounter similar experiences of displacement and despair, as well as unexpected acts of kindness and compassion. Nestled within a timeless and sensual landscape, Archangel Vineyard sits on two ancient glacial terraces in the Upper Clutha Valley of Central Otago, one of the southern most winegrowing regions in the world. Geological events 30,000 years ago have defined the Archangel landscape, creating soils that are a pastiche of loess, gravel, schist and mineral quartz. Archangel is a communion of all things that truly matter. Family and friends coming together to share the spirit of place and celebrating special moments that evoke great memories – Understanding that we are guardians in the present, of this timeless land.
Balance and elegance define this Pinot Noir. With beautiful aromas of red and dark fruit, notes of violets, spice and cedar oak, this delicious wine leads to concentrated dark plum with subtle hints of spice and leather on the palate. A medium-bodied, complex Pinot Noir, with silky tannins, good persistence and length.
