Aliança was founded in 1927, over 80 years ago, by 11 associates leaded by Domingos Silva e Ângelo Neves, in Sangalhos (Anadia’s county), Bairrada region. The company started it’s activity exporting to Brasil, África and Europe, representing, nowadays, more than 50% of Aliança’s production. Present in the main wine regions of the country, Aliança believes in quality, and to accomplish the goal, the company purchased several Estates, in regions as Alentejo, Douro, Dão, Bairradas and Beiras, exploring around 600 ha of winery. In these exploitations, a deep work of conversion has been started, and new vineyards planted by the experienced Aliança team.
The strong, deep, ruby red colour immediately suggests a concentrated style of wine. The bouquet confirms intensity and focus with tightly defined ripe dark fruit aromas laced with a hint of earthiness and a very lightly smokey note with spicy oak. The palate has energy, richness, lots of dark berry flavours, plenty of depth and a good tight structure. There’s also an attractive roasty, minerally character in the background giving an extra dimension and extra interest to this modern Portuguese red.
