Black is a new blend produced from classic varieties that do not make it into the Quinta do Noval vintage. The steep Murças vineyard on the right bank of the Douro faces due south. That gives this dense, impressive Reserva vast reserves of richness and structure. It allows the young ripe fruits to express themselves, with a forward, juicy character.

This is only the second release of a Quinta do Seixo vintage from Sandeman, which has held the estate in its portfolio since 2007. It is distinguished by the fact that all the grapes come from this one property, in contrast to the house’s main vintage expression, which has not been declared this year.
-
Smith Woodhouse’s Ten Year Tawny is blended from wines of the very highest quality, matured solely in wood. The maturation in oak casks lends this aged tawny a delicate “nutty” character, which marries beautifully with the delicious raisiny flavours.
-
Madalena Vintage Port is made with the finest quality grapes from Quinta da Madalena in Portugal’s Douro Valley. This single vineyard Vintage Port will mature slightly more quickly than classic Vintages but otherwise shares the same characteristic rich, opulent Smith Woodhouse style.
-
Unlike aged tawnies, this is a young port aged in seasoned oak for about 3 years. It has been produced a blend of wines from traditional grapes that have been selected for their lighter colour and character. The tawny colour owes itself to this rather than long ageing and it is a smoother and lighter.
